Wedding Morning Musings

22nd July 2017 – The Morning.

The morning of the wedding is such a fond memory in my mind. Both, the bridal and grooms party got ready in the same Tuscan villa, which we had been staying in with our families for the previous week. The villa overlooked the city and was absolutely beautiful inside, it made the perfect location for a laid back and relaxed start to the day, and that was exactly how I felt.

I had stayed in a different room the night before the wedding and amazingly, Ed and I managed to go the whole morning without seeing one another (the place was pretty huge!) The girls and I were in the tower at the top of the villa and Ed and his groomsman got ready in the dining room below. I absolutely loved spending the morning with my friends, the wedding itself did not start until late afternoon, which meant that we had all morning to listen to music, chat and have our hair and make-up done. Both my dad and my brother are chefs and made sure that we were never short on nibbles or drinks being sent upstairs to us. The whole atmosphere in the villa that morning was exactly what I’d hoped for, it was informal and relaxed with excitement in the air.

Ed had his stag-do in Miami and wanted to channel that into the wedding with the perfect summer suits. The boys wore pastel blue suits from ASOS (I know!) and Ed wore a pink linen suit by Gianni Feraud. I was a little sceptical when Ed said he had chosen a pink suit but the suits worked brilliantly together and fit the venue perfectly. All of the boys looked totally charming!

Once the grooms party and family had been collected and taken to the wedding venue to greet our guests for a welcome drink, the girls and I finished getting ready.  We really had to wait until the very last minute before putting on our clothes as it was so hot outside! My dress was by Pronovias and was bought at The Wedding Dress Shop  in Wimbledon. They were  wonderful in helping me find my dress (which was NOTHING like the kind of dress I’d had in mind!) They didn’t put any pressure on me at all which I really appreciated, as this was something I was nervous about before fittings. For my bouquet, I chose white flowers with eucalyptus. The flowers were by Le Petit Jardin, which was run by the most wonderful lady, Marisa. She did an amazing job at listening to what I’d envisaged and making it a reality, both in the bouquets and throughout the rest of the day.

My shoes were silver and simple by Carvela and my bridesmaid dresses were from ASOS. I also bought a last minute back-up dress by Jarlo for late night dancing, just in case my dress became too hot/restrictive throughout the evening. I surprised myself getting all these bits from the high street but I really wanted everybody to be comfortable on the day. I found lots of the traditional bridal shoes and bridesmaids dresses that I’d looked at to feel dated and a little too silky/feminine/floaty for my liking. I was so happy with the dresses we found and actually bought them the first time round (pre- pregnancy discovery) so my only worry was that the girls would still like them two years on. Luckily they did and they all looked BEAUTIFUL.

Once we ‘d finished putting on our dresses, we said goodbye to John, our brilliant photographer, as he headed to capture the last of the welcome drinks. Whilst we were waiting to be picked up I was so excited to see Ed and all of our friends. I had had the most wonderful morning and just wanted to get there and get started!
